Sudan’s crude output is running at 64,000 b/d, down 44% on 2014 levels and some 86% below the 457,000 b/d produced before South Sudan seceded in July 2011, taking with it 75% of Sudan’s production.
Acting Energy Minister Kheiri Abdelrahman says Sudan hopes to add 20,000 b/d next year. But he gives no details on where such gains might come from. Recent additions have been far more modest, with state oil firm Sudapet bringing online the Rawat field with 440 b/d from an initial well on 3 December. This brings total output from Block 25 to 3,000 b/d from seven wells, the minister says. Back in 2018, Sudan’s then oil minister said Block 25 would be producing at least 5,000 b/d by the end of 2018, rising to 10,000-15,000 b/d by end-2019 (MEES, 16 March 2018). (CONTINUED - 811 WORDS)
