UK based United Oil & Gas (UOG) on 28 February completed the $16mn purchase of compatriot Rockhopper’s 22% stake in the Abu Sennan field in Egypt’s Western Desert (MEES, 26 July 2019). Confusingly the operator here is also called United, China’s United Energy Group, which acquired the stake in its $650mn purchase of Kuwait Energy (MEES, 8 March 2019).
Output from Abu Sennan doubled to 7,000 b/d, plus around 6mn cfd of gas, from early January with the start up of the ‘Ash-2’ well which tested at up to 7,000 b/d. It remains to be seen whether this level of output can be sustained. (CONTINUED - 158 WORDS)
