Egypt and Sudan began operating a transmission line link between the two countries on 3 April, delivering an initial 60MW of electricity. “The extension of the grid started feeding the regions in northern Sudan and is part of the relentless efforts to expand the country’s power,” Sudan’s Ministry of Energy says.
The 170km link runs between substations in the Toshka Lakes area of Egypt and Wadi Hafi in Sudan and operates at a voltage of 220kV. The capacity of the link is slated to rise to 3GW in a second phase. (CONTINUED - 168 WORDS)
