Abu Dhabi’s state petroleum firm Adnoc and state utility Adpower issued a tender on 27 April for two high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines to take electricity from the onshore national grid to its archipelago of key offshore fields, processing facilities and export terminals. Commercial operation is slated for 2025.
A presentation from Eni indicates that Phase 1 of the project will comprise a line from the grid near Al Mirfa to substations powering production and processing facilities at the Hail and Lower Zakum fields, while Phase 2 will run from near Ruwais to connect up Arzanah Island, the Das Island terminals and the Umm Shaif field. Adnoc already has a subsea cable linking Das Island to the Umm Shaif and Nasr fields (see map). (CONTINUED - 769 WORDS)
