The UAE carried out a cabinet reshuffle on 5 July which entailed some notable energy-sector developments. Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei enlarged his portfolio, with the merger of the energy and infrastructure ministries. Mr Mazrouei has served as energy minister since 2013 (MEES, 15 March 2013). Meanwhile, the latest reshuffle also saw Adnoc CEO Sultan al-Jaber appointed head of the newly formed Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology – he retains his position at Adnoc.
The newly established Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology has been merged with the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA), and is tasked with developing the national industrial sector.
