Siemens Energy announced on 29 July that it will supply 20 compressor trains for Saudi Aramco’s Hawiyah Unayzah Gas Reservoir Storage (HUGRS) project. The order was placed by Samsung Engineering which was awarded the $1.85bn EPC contract for the project in January. HUGRS is aimed at easing gas shortages in the high-demand summer months. Last year liquids burn rose from 726,000 b/d in March to 1.44mn b/d in August.
HUGRS will have capacity to inject 1.5bn cfd into the reservoir from 2022, and then withdraw 2bn cfd to supply power plants from 2024 (MEES, 20 March). (CONTINUED - 93 WORDS)
