Saudi petrochemicals firm Sabic reported its second quarter and first half 2020 financial results on 6 August, revealing a third quarterly loss in a row.

Speaking on the earnings call, CEO Yousef al-Benyan was optimistic that the worst may now have passed. “Our view is that the second half is going to be more or less an average of the first half or a little bit better.” he said, adding that prices have since strengthened, but that uncertainty over a potential “second wave” of the coronavirus pandemic continues to dampen demand.
