Saudi private-sector energy developer Acwa Power is establishing a growing presence in Uzbekistan. The firm signed power purchase and investment agreements for two wind farms in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara and Navoi on 25 January. The two projects have planned combined capacity of 1GW.
The agreement follows last year’s $1.2bn agreement for a 1.5GW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant in Shirin city, for which the partners broke ground this week (MEES, 13 March 2020). Based on a preliminary agreement last year, the two wind projects are likely worth around $1.1bn. (CONTINUED - 144 WORDS)
