US contractor KBR has been selected by India’s Acme Group for work on a major planned green ammonia project in Oman. KBR says it “will provide technology license, engineering, proprietary equipment, catalyst, and commissioning services for a plant to produce 300 metric tons per day of ammonia. The plant will be an integrated facility using solar and wind energy to produce green energy.”
Acme Group announced in August that it had signed a land agreement for the project at the Special Economic Zone at the port of Duqm. Acme Chairman Manoj Upadhyay unveiled an ambitious timeframe, saying that “the plant in Oman would be developed in phases, and the first phase is likely to be commissioned by end of 2022.” Once complete the plant will have 3GW of solar capacity and 500MW of wind.
