Spain’s Acciona announced on 24 November that alongside China’s SepcoIII, it will construct the $692mn, 570,000 m³ Jubail 3b reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plant. “Acciona and its partner are the main EPC contractors in the project, which will be developed and financed by a consortium consisting of Engie, Nesma and Ajlan for the publicly-owned Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWCP),” says the firm.
SWPC announced financial close on the project on 19 October. Jubail 3B will supply water to Riyadh and Qassim in central Saudi Arabia, nearly 400km away, and is due to start operations in 1Q 2024. (CONTINUED - 156 WORDS)
