Abu Dhabi is accelerating plans to become a leading player in the emerging green hydrogen sector. Abu Dhabi last week announced a major restructuring of state-renewable firm Masdar – state energy giant Adnoc and state-led Taqa are taking stakes in the firm – to create an “Abu Dhabi powerhouse” with an industry-leading portfolio (MEES, 3 December).
Then, on 3 December, Masdar announced a $5bn partnership with France’s Engie “to explore the co-development of a UAE-based green hydrogen hub. The two companies are looking to develop projects with a capacity of at least 2 GW by 2030.” (CONTINUED - 181 WORDS)
