On top of their landmark E&P deal (MEES, 17 December), Sonatrach and Eni this week signed an ‘energy transition’ MoU “for the assessment of joint opportunities in the fields of renewables, hydrogen, the capture, use and storage of CO2 [CCUS], bio-refining, and many other initiatives.”
Though Eni’s press release is light on details, official Algerian media highlight a plan to install another 10MW solar PV plant at the two firms’ Bir Rebaa North field to displace gas currently used to fuel operations.
