Swedish independent Tethys Oil hopes for results on what could prove to be a game-changing drilling project in the south west of Oman by the end of the month. The firm has expanded rapidly in the sultanate in recent years and hopes that its Thameen-1 well on Block 49 could unlock unconventional oil reserves.
The firm first entered Oman back in 2006 (MEES, 12 June 2006) and generates around 11,000 b/d net from its stake in Blocks 3 and 4 (CCED 50%op, Tethys 30%, Mitsui 20%). Tethys has used the revenues generated to snap up three exploration blocks since 2017 and says that its acreage now covers 18% of Oman. (CONTINUED - 669 WORDS)
