Saudi Arabia secured headlines last year when it announced plans for a $5bn green hydrogen plant at its futuristic planned Neom zone in the kingdom’s far north east. The project will be developed by US industrial gas firm Air Products, Saudi private energy developer Acwa Power and Riyadh’s official Neom development agency and is due online in 2025 (MEES, 10 July 2020).
