*Algeria managed to stop its gas output falling last year. But only just. Sales gas production rose 2% to 87.7bcm in 2020, reversing what had been three years of declines. But this still represents an 8% drop on 2016’s record 94.8bcm (see chart 1).
*That sales gas output didn’t fall in 2020 is about as good as it gets. Confirming what MEES had estimated at the turn of the year (MEES, 8 January), Algerian gas exports in 2020 fell 7% to a quarter century low of just 38.2bcm, according to official numbers submitted to Riyadh-based Jodi (see chart 2).
