Kuwait’s intransigent political deadlock has entered a new phase, and the Emir has opted to suspend parliament (the National Assembly) for one month. The suspension, the first since 2012, is a bid to bring tensions down from boiling point, but in the meantime much-needed economic reforms are being pushed further down the line.
