The key Korean nuclear firms that have been instrumental in developing the UAE’s first nuclear plant at Barakah (MEES, 11 December 2020), have signed up their expertise for the 4.8GW nuclear project Russia’s Rosatom is developing at Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast 170km west of Alexandria.
Local contractor Petrojet on 17 March signed a “teaming agreement” with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), Kepco E&C, Hyundai E&C and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction where by Korean firms will “pursue cooperation with local companies in Egypt based on their proven experiences and capabilities in nuclear power plant projects in Korea and the Barakah project in the UAE,” according to a write-up posted on the website of the Egypt Nuclear Power Plants Authority.
