Israel has continuously missed its targets for increasing renewables use within power generation: for 2020 the goal was 10%, but in reality renewables provided 5.7% of the mix. Whilst this is conspicuously better than the bulk of Mena countries, neighboring Jordan managed 19% (MEES, 29 January).
As of end-2020, solar PV accounted for 2.3GW, some 12% of Israel’s total 20GW of installed capacity, up from 2.02GW a year earlier. Solar PV accounts for around 99% of renewables in Israel: including a small amount of wind capacity, the renewables total is 2.34GW. (CONTINUED - 886 WORDS)
