With Iranians voting in Presidential elections as MEES goes to press on 18 June, the biggest ‘winner’ may be voter apathy.
The vast bulk of potential candidates were disqualified from participating, leaving the field seemingly open for conservative candidate Ebrahim Raisi to win. Mr Raisi heads the judiciary and is a close ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
