US major ExxonMobil and Saudi state-led petrochemicals giant Sabic have announced mechanical completion of derivatives plants for their 50:50 Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV) JV near Corpus Christi, Texas.
The GCGV JV is developing a petchems complex based around a 1.8mn t/y ethane cracker, one of the world’s largest, and while it was originally slated for 2022-startup, the partners are fast-tracking it towards a 4Q 2021 start (MEES, 7 May). Upon completion, the complex will produce 1.1mn t/y of monoethylene glycol and 1.3mn t/y of polyethylene. (CONTINUED - 176 WORDS)
