Algeria is preparing an “emergency plan” to equip “all coastal regions” with water desalination facilities, energy and mines minister Mohamed Arkab said on 29 July.
Mr Arkab was speaking at the signing ceremony for the first three elements of this plan – floating desalination plants to be installed at El Marsa (60,000m3/day capacity) and Bordj El Kiffan (10,000 m³/day) in the Algiers region, and at Corso (80,000 m³/day) in Boumerdès, 50km east of the capital.
