The Saudi government has unveiled detailed plans of the expected impact of its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) on the kingdom’s electricity sector. Once the first three NREP phases (4.87GW capacity) are fully operational, by end-2024,Riyadh expects they will be capable of annual generation of 15.1TWh, and will displace 67,000 b/d of liquids from power plants, according to figures released on 30 December.
The NREP currently consists of three phases. Contract awards have been made for the first two phases, and bids are in for the third (MEES, 22 October 2021). (CONTINUED - 606 WORDS)
