Saudi Arabia consolidated its position as top supplier to the world’s top crude importer China in 2021.
Saudi saw volumes rise by 3.4% to an annual record of 1.75mn b/d even as China’s overall crude imports fell for the first time in 20 years. Saudi is set to extend its lead in 2022: as the only Opec+ member (alongside the UAE) with plentiful spare output capacity, the kingdom may be set to notch up record export volumes for 2022 (MEES, 7 January).
