TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné landed in Baghdad on 24 November in a visit to the Iraqi capital where he met the country’s new premier Mohammed al-Sudani (MEES, 18 November). The PM’s office tweeted that Mr Sudani “chaired a meeting on the Integrated Gas Development Project,” a reference to the $2bn, 600mn cfd Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) portion of Total’s planned $27bn Iraqi megadeal (MEES, 10 September 2021).
Mr Pouyanné subsequently tweeted that TotalEnergies confirmed to Mr Sudani that “it is very keen to invest in Iraq by developing access to electricity through sustainable use of natural resources such as reduction of associated gas flaring, water resource management, development of solar energy and low-cost oil.” (CONTINUED - 222 WORDS)
