China’s United Energy Group (UEG) says that it has added 13.6mn cfd of gas production at its Siba gas field in Iraq, which ought to boost output above 50mn cfd. The Hong Kong-listed firm, whose Iraq assets are operated by its Kuwait Energy subsidiary, has a 30% operating stake at Siba alongside Turkey’s TPAO (30%), Iraq’s Missan Oil Company (25%), and Egyptian state firm EGPC (15%).
Siba is Federal Iraq’s only producing non-associated gas field, and is located on the border with Iran (see map). UEG reported in September that gas production averaged 38mn cfd for 1H 2022 (MEES, 16 September). Siba has an oil and liquids ratio of 66.5%, meaning that the majority of the 20,000 boe/d production reported is condensate at 13,300 b/d. (CONTINUED - 293 WORDS)
