QatarEnergy announced its updated Sustainability Strategy on 7 March, “setting aggressive 2035 targets, including more than 11mn t/y of carbon capture and storage, and 5GW of solar.” The state firms says that this re-emphasizes its commitment “to the responsible production of clean and affordable energy to facilitate the energy transition.”
QatarEnergy says that one of the flagship projects is “the further deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to capture over 11 million tons per annum of CO₂ in Qatar by 2035. These projects will further reduce the carbon intensity of Qatar’s LNG facilities by 35%, and of its upstream facilities by at least 25% (compared to previous targets of 25% and 15%, respectively) bolstering Qatar’s commitment to responsibly supply cleaner LNG at scale in support of the energy transition.” (CONTINUED - 564 WORDS)
