Morocco produced a record volume of gas for 2021, albeit an exceedingly modest 117.5mn m3 (11.4mn cfd). The previous record of 10.2mn cfd was set in 2019. Output dipped to 10.1mn cfd for 2020 as the industrial firms that account for 100% of offtake reduced operations amid the Covid pandemic.
Key producer SDX Energy, which produced a record 7.7mn cfd for 2021 from its Sebou concession near Rabat, however says output will fall for 2022 (it is guiding 4.8-5.0mn cfd for Sebou) “as the Company decided not to immediately renew a five-year customer contract” that expired at end-2021 until it “has better visibility on future gas supply and pricing to support the full term of a new contract.” (CONTINUED - 297 WORDS)
