The UAE is prioritizing supplying its industrial facilities with clean electricity in a bid to make its key exports more attractive amid the energy transition. Abu Dhabi state energy giant Adnoc’s grid-connected facilities are now entirely supplied with energy from solar and renewables, and a deal is now planned to supply Emirates Global Aluminum’s (EGA) facilities with clean energy.
Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai have significantly increased their clean-energy power generation in recent years. Abu Dhabi is achieving this through a combination of nuclear power and solar plants (MEES, 4 March), while for Dubai it is solely renewables (MEES, 21 January).
