Energean says its latest Athena-1 exploration well on Block 12 off Israel was a “commercial gas discovery,” albeit of a modest 0.28tcf of recoverable reserves, well below the 0.7tcf targeted pre-drill. The Greek firm says the latest well has also de-risked 1.8tcf of additional prospects in what it calls the ‘Olympus Area’ (see map).
Athina-1 was drilled in water depths of 1,769ms, 20km west of Energean’s 1.4tcf Karish and 1.2tcf Karish North fields which are due to come online in Q3 this year and 2H 2023 respectively (MEES, 6 May). (CONTINUED - 363 WORDS)
