Morocco has taken a step to becoming a significant gas producer with London-listed minnow Chariot on 20 June announcing the award of a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the offshore Anchois gas development to the ‘Global Subsea Integration Alliance’ of Schlumberger and Subsea 7.
Chariot hiked Anchois reserves estimates to around 1tcf following a successful appraisal well at the end of 2021 (MEES, 14 January) . It says its “best estimate” of total reserves from nearby fields that could be tied back to an “Anchois Area Hub” is 2tcf with a further 4tcf of prospective reserves on the surrounding Lixus permit.
