Rising domestic gas demand during the peak summer months is forcing Cairo to curb its LNG exports, despite record piped gas imports from Israel, MEES understands, with no exports expected from the Shell and Petronas-operated 7.2mn t/y ELNG facility at Idku for July or August.
This comes as a blow to Cairo as the country’s LNG exports up until May had been running at near record levels – with 51 cargoes (3.31mn tons) for the first five months of 2022, an 11-year high. (CONTINUED - 859 WORDS)
