Algeria, Nigeria and Niger are seeking to revive a decades old project to build a potentially 30bcm/y natural gas pipeline to Europe amid the continent’s ongoing energy crunch set off by key supplier Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Three tripartite meetings since February culminated late last month in the signing of an MoU to build the 4,000km Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) which would connect Nigerian gas to Europe via Niger and Algeria’s export infrastructure (see map).
