As Singapore firm BW’s 750mn cfd ‘BW Singapore’ Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) prepares to sail away from the Red Sea port of Ain Sukhna in November 2023 following the end of its lease period, MEES learns that Egypt has entered the market to find a replacement.
The ship has been moored at Ain Sukhna since October 2015 and has now been purchased by Italian gas distribution firm Snam (MEES, 19 August). The initial five-year lease was extended for a further three years, but the ship has remained mainly idle since October 2018, although it provides Egypt with security of supply if it suffers any gas output outages.
