The partners at Cyprus’ 4.1tcf Aphrodite field, Chevron (35%op), Shell (35%) and Israel’s NewMed Energy (30%) have moved a step closer towards development, announcing on 18 September that they have approved a budget of $130mn for the drilling of a third well at the field while also approving $62mn for a pre-Feed study.
The A-3 well, the field’s second appraisal well and third overall “is also intended to serve as a production well after the completion of the development of the reservoir,” NewMed says, confirming that the partners have contracted the Stena Forth drillship. (CONTINUED - 711 WORDS)
