The UAE has released the third update to its second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, further tightening its emissions targets.
“The new reduction target for 2030 will reduce net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the previously targeted figure of 208 MtCO₂e [million tons of CO₂ equivalent], as announced in the Updated Second NDC (2022), to 182 MtCO₂e. Despite sustained economic and population growth, this target represents an absolute GHG emissions reduction of 19% by 2030 relative to 2019,” the UAE states in the updated NDC.
