Fujairah’s second largest refinery has been running at half capacity since May, significantly reducing the volume of locally produced VLSFO available at the region’s largest bunkering market. The two-train 67,000 b/d refinery was previously operated by Uniper, but a consortium of Montfort Group and the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum concluded its purchase of the facility on 31 May.
MEES understands that one of the ‘Fort Energy’ refinery trains has been offline since May, implying current capacity of 33,500 b/d, although industry figures expect it to be brought online later this month and the outage is not seen as concerning.
