Abu Dhabi state renewables firm Masdar generated a record 26.7TWh of clean energy from its global portfolio in 2023, up 48% from the previous year’s 18TWh. The firm’s 2023 Sustainability Report released on 4 October adds that its portfolio of operational and under construction capacity increased from 15GW to 16.5GW last year, as it targets 100GW by 2030. The firm is on an acquisition spree as it expands capacity rapidly, this week closing a deal for 50% of US-focused firm Terra-Gen (MEES, 4 October) just days after agreeing to pay $1.4bn to acquire Iberia-focused Saeta Yield from US investment firm Brookfield (MEES, 27 September).
