Adnoc is accelerating its unconventional drilling program launched earlier this year, which aims to deliver 144 unconventional oil and gas wells. When the program was launched in May it was intended to extend to end-2026, but there has been no statement as to the new timeframe.
Adnoc awarded the $1.7bn drilling contract to its Adnoc Drilling subsidiary on 13 May, with Adnoc Drilling incorporating a new company, Turnwell Industries, in order to deliver the contract ((MEES, 17 May). The creation of Turnwell as a joint venture between Adnoc Drilling (55%), services giant SLB (30%) and Patterson-UTI (15%) was finalized on 30 September, while the first well of the campaign was drilled in August (MEES, 2 August).
