Cyprus says it expects to take delivery of the ‘Prometheus’ FLNG by end-2024, with Energy Minister George Papanastasiou on 22 October saying a “financial arrangement” has been reached with the Chinese-Greek CMC consortium which will see the vessel released from Cosco’s Shanghai Shipyard after a protracted dispute over project costs (MEES, 2 August).

However, even if the vessel now sails to Cyprus, the island still needs to complete the planned onshore receiving terminal and jetty at Vasilikos on the south coast – currently 50% complete. Mr Papanastasiou says this could be completed by mid-2025 if Cyprus can find a new contractor in short order after CMC walked away. (CONTINUED - 187 WORDS)
