Construction has started at Abu Dhabi’s 1.5GW Al Ajban solar plant, according to a 21 November announcement from France’s EdF Renewables which is jointly developing the plant with Korea Western Power (MEES, 23 February).
Al Ajban is due online in 2026 according to the partners, putting it ahead of the planned 1.5GW Khazna plant due online in 2027 and the 1.5GW Zarraf plant likely to come online in 2028 (MEES, 4 October). Abu Dhabi has three solar facilities currently operating with a combined capacity of 3.3GW meaning a total future solar capacity of 7.8GW. (CONTINUED - 90 WORDS)
