Oman’s pursuit of gas output growth has seen the country hit a series of recent output records, most recently 5.41bn cfd for Q3 (MEES, 15 November). Similarly, national sales gas — production and imports excluding consumption in the oil and gas sector — has been at record levels averaging for the first nine months of this year 4.36bn cfd, up 11% year-on-year according to MEES calculations.

In order to keep up with this growth, the country’s gas network owner and operator OQ Gas Networks (OQGN) is rapidly expanding its network to link new upstream output with future downstream projects. According to figures released alongside the firm’s recent Q3 results, OQGN is forecasting that the volumes it will need to deliver will rise by almost 500mn cfd between 2023 and 2027. Since OQGN’s network is responsible for transporting all sales gas in Oman, its ‘gas deliveries’ are equivalent to Oman’s total sales gas. (CONTINUED - 658 WORDS)
