Oman’s energy ministry has approved Swedish minnow Tethys Oil’s field development plan for Block 56 (Tethys 65%, Biyaq 25%, Medco 5%, Intag 5%) in the south of the country. As a result the block’s exploration production sharing agreement has been extended by 20 years to 2044. Development is slated to begin in 2025.

Substantial output is unlikely. Tethys has made one discovery at Al Jumd with extended well tests at the field in 2023 averaging 330 b/d (MEES, 10 November). The firm has also conducted drilling at the Menna prospect, but did not announce any further discoveries. (CONTINUED - 148 WORDS)
