Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC), on 26 November announced the signing of a 25-year power and water purchase agreement for the planned 2.4GW Ras Abu Fontas Facility E which will have 500,000 m3/d of integrated desalination capacity. QEWC (55%) will lead development with Japan’s Sumitomo (17%) and Shikoku Electric (11%) the lead foreign partners.

Facility E would add roughly 21% to Qatar’s current existing generation capacity of 11.4GW (MEES, 1 November). This excludes 1.4GW of dedicated power for Qatar’s aluminium facility and includes 800MW of solar capacity from the Al Kharsaah plant. (CONTINUED - 154 WORDS)
