Hong Kong-listed independent UEG has begun commissioning the 130mn cfd gas processing plant at Iraq’s Block 9 in Basra province according to a 17 December press release. The facility will capture associated gas from the Faihaa oilfield and is expected to produce 1,110-1480 t/d of LPG alongside 98mn cfd of dry gas (MEES, 12 July).
The CAMC Engineering subsidiary of Chinese state firm Sinomach was the main EPC contractor, with work also involving delivering the field’s 100,000 b/d central processing facility in May (MEES, 3 May). This takes Iraq’s total gas processing capacity to 1.93bn cfd, after Shell-led BGC added its first 200mn cfd BNGL unit earlier this year, and CNPC added its 400mn cfd Halfaya plant.
