Saudi Aramco has begun exporting Arab Heavy crude oil from its Red Sea export facilities at Yanbu and Muajjiz amid the ongoing Houthi attacks on shipping crossing the Bab al-Mandeb (MEES, 23 February).
Arab Heavy is typically only exported from Saudi Arabia’s Gulf coast export facilities at Ras Tanura, where the more substantial storage facilities and greater number of loading points makes it easier to export multiple crude streams. Yanbu and Muajjiz exports are primarily of Arab Light, alongside smaller volumes of Arab Super Light, which they receive through the 5mn b/d East-West pipeline. Although Arab Heavy is delivered to Yanbu through the pipeline, it normally just supplies refineries at the industrial city rather than the export terminals. (CONTINUED - 936 WORDS)
