Iran says the Jofeir and Sepehr fields have belatedly begun production, six years after being awarded under an Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) to domestic private firm Pasargad Energy Development Company (MEES, 30 March 2018). Iran puts combined capacity at 50,000 b/d, although no output figure has been provided. The fields have a combined resource of 5.4bn barrels, of which 450mn barrels is recoverable across the Fahlian (43° API) and Ilam (20° API) reservoirs.
The fields are part of the West Karun cluster on the Iraqi border, which is dominated by the Azadegan, Yaran and Yadavaran fields. Mr Owji claims West Karun output now stands at 450,000 b/d. NIOC subsidiary Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, which operates the fields, gives the same figure as representing the fields’ capacity. (CONTINUED - 123 WORDS)
