French renewables developer Voltalia on 8 May said it had been awarded a contract for 130MW of solar PV capacity in the Gafsa region of southwest Tunisia. Power will be sold to Tunisia’s state utility STEG under a 30-year deal with construction set to begin in 2025 for 2026 start-up, Voltalia says.

Tunisia is targeting 30% of power from renewables by 2030. But progress to date has been slow. For 2023 the figure was 2.2%. (CONTINUED - 183 WORDS)
