*Tunisia is finally moving forward on adding renewables capacity, with 500MW of projects awarded in 2019 set to come on line by 2026 (MEES, 24 May). But with additions in recent years having been threadbare, the country for now remains reliant on gas for over 96% of power generation, 85% of supply once record 2023 imports of 2.5TWh from Algeria are factored in (see charts 1 & 2). Power imports from Algeria were up again, by 23% year-on-year, to a quarterly record 747GWh for Q1.
