Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has received an offer from Oman to supply 350MW of electricity this summer via GCC Interconnection Authority swaps involving intermediary Saudi Arabia. According to a 25 April report by local daily al-Rai, the supplies would come in June, July and August when aircon-fueled demand typically peaks.
While the offer remains “under study,” MEW still needs to source another 150MW through the interconnector to reach its 500MW imports target, and al-Rai says an “additional offer from other Gulf countries” is expected soon. (CONTINUED - 995 WORDS)
