Summer has officially arrived in Oman, and with it the season of peak power demand as scorching temperatures approaching 50°C have been recorded across the sultanate so far in June.
Latest data from the 2024-2028 capabilities statement of the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) shows peak load rising 7% to 8.1GW for 2023. Continued strong growth is expected, with OETC projecting peak load hitting 8.6GW this year and then soaring by a further 27% to 10.9GW by 2028 (see chart 1). (CONTINUED - 803 WORDS)
